Mme Degree Requirements

Students may apply for the MS degree with the approval of the Graduate Advisor and the Graduate School for a maximum of 9 semester hours of approved undergraduate courses. A student with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in metallurgy and materials engineering or a related materials field may work toward a 33-semester degree without a thesis, leading to a concentration in a field outside the major. Courses include 18 hours in the major and at least 12 hours in the respective area of interest. Work in the main field includes credits for MME 5396 (graduate project). The Master of Engineering can also be acquired as part of the combined Bachelor/Master program. Students admitted to these programs participate in graduate courses that count towards the graduate diploma and bachelor`s degree requirements, for a maximum of 15 credit hours of graduate courses by undergraduate and graduate advisor approval. Introduction to the variety of biomaterials and applications through the study of the physiological environment in conjunction with the requirements for the composition and structure of tissues and organs. Relevant areas and applications of metals, ceramics and polymers, including implants, sensors, drug delivery, laboratory automation and tissue engineering, will be presented. Prerequisite: BIOL110 or equivalent. 3 hours of lessons; 3 semester hours. At least 36.0 approved course credits, of which 24 must be in MTGN or MLGN. Credits previously earned for a master`s degree may be applied to the Ph.D., subject to approval, provided the master`s degree is in metallurgy and materials engineering or a similar field. A minimum of 21.0 credits of approved courses must be completed at the Colorado School of Mines.

Upon completion of the MME degree, students will be able to: Students will study with nationally and internationally recognized faculty members in their fields. The resulting degree concludes with either a full exam for a degree outside of the thesis or a thesis for those seeking a PhD. With the MME degree, music educators teach and/or conduct research in college, high school, or elementary school. The Master of Music Education program is tailored to the needs and interests of individuals who are already certified in music education and wish to pursue their careers as music educators or music administrators in public schools. It is also possible to structure a program that allows individuals to pursue careers in fields related to education or as preparation for possible higher education. A graduate certificate is offered by each department center – the requirements for the graduate certificate are: The Fast Track program allows outstanding UTEP students to earn undergraduate and graduate credits for up to 15 hours of UTEP coursework, as determined by participating master`s and doctoral programs. Not all undergraduate programs have chosen to participate in the expedited option, so students should contact their departmental advisor for information on requirements and policies. Senior UTEP students with at least 90 hours towards their BSMME degree, at least 24 of those hours at UTEP and a minimum GPA of at least 3.30 may be eligible for the following accelerated programs: The Metallurgy and Materials Engineering curriculum emphasizes a solid foundation in materials science and engineering, An in-depth understanding of how materials are processed and how the structure and properties of materials are adapted to meet industrial and performance requirements. Students may choose a concentration in forensic engineering and materials performance, process extraction and metallurgy, or biomaterials. The program requirements for the three graduate degrees offered by the department are listed below: The Master of Music Education (MME-ME) with a major in Music Education requires a minimum of 30 credits and is designed to deepen the student`s knowledge, practice, and experience in the field of music education. Graduate programs in music education include advanced professional and scientific studies for music educators, bachelor`s/certification programs for those with a high school diploma in other fields who plan to enter the music education professions (these initial bachelor`s/certification programs typically also require accompanying undergraduate studies), and advanced studies for persons in related disciplines.

Focal points, study programmes, examinations as well as regulations and procedures are described in the MEMT Master`s manual. Theses must clearly demonstrate the ability to conduct independent and innovative research. The research must be original and contribute to the state of the art. Theses are the substance of the MS degree. It must be written in whole or in part as a specialized work and submitted for publication before the degree is awarded. The student must be the first principal author. Specific courses are determined by the graduate advisor of the department center selected by the candidate. A grade point average of B or better must be maintained to meet these requirements. Although this degree program does not require prior teaching experience, graduate studies become more meaningful if prior teaching experience has been gained in the field. Therefore, individuals who plan to pursue the MME are encouraged to teach one to three years prior to initial registration or graduation. (I, II) All full-time MME PhD students must attend the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering. Students must attend the graduate seminar each semester in which they are enrolled at the CSM. At the end of each semester, students receive a satisfactory or unsatisfactory progression grade, based on attendance, to the last semester of the student`s program of study, when a letter grade is awarded based on attendance grades from all previous semesters. Although these courses are taken annually, only a maximum of 1.0 hours of course credits are granted. Students who have official part-time status do not need to enroll in the graduate seminary. Participation in other seminars outside the MME may replace participation in the MME after approval by the course instructor. 1 hour conference; 0.5 hours. Repeatable up to 1 hour.

The MME program is open to students who have demonstrated academic excellence in their undergraduate studies. Students who have a BS or BA degree in an engineering field or a related degree may apply, although some may need to meet the requirements or take remedial courses to earn the MME degree. Students can enrol full-time or part-time. The completion requirements for this program are a minimum grade point average for all courses and separately a minimum grade point average of 3.00 for all MECE courses. When calculating the cumulative grade point average in MECE courses, if a student receives a grade of “C+” or lower in a MECE course and renews the course (or takes an equivalent course approved by the Director of Graduate Studies) with a higher grade, the lower grade is removed from the calculation. Formal education is usually in school, where a person can acquire basic, academic or craft skills. Young children often attend kindergarten, but often formal education begins in primary school and continues with secondary school. Post-secondary education (or higher education) is usually done at a college or university that can award a university degree. Or students can go to a college in the city where they learn practical skills. In this way, learners can be referred to as plumbers, electricians, construction workers and similar professions.

These courses have arrangements for students to gain hands-on experience. Education was the oldest way to do this, students are expected to enroll in this seminar each semester, but a maximum of 1 credit can count towards graduation. Students pursuing the MME degree must follow the following credit transfer guidelines: The program of study for the Master or Doctorate in Philosophy in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering is chosen by the student in consultation with his/her advisor and with the approval of the thesis committee.
