CCLA`s Family Court Self Advocacy Center (FCSAC) is located in the Central Broward County Courthouse in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Under the supervision of lawyers in the Family Law Unit, the CFSAC Paralegal will provide legal information and advice to a large number of self-represented litigants regarding forms on issues such as, but not limited to, dissolution of marriage (divorce), paternity, timeshare change and child support. family court applications and limited information on issues raised by the Ministry of Finance. The paralegal will work in person and will be at the central courthouse every day. The successful candidate must be an energetic, well-organized and patient individual who is involved in assisting self-represented litigants in achieving a fair and effective resolution of their family law case. The successful candidate must possess effective communication and technology skills on platforms such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and Zoom. Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred). CCLA is a legal aid program funded by the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) that has been providing free civil legal assistance to low-income and other eligible residents of Broward County since January 2004. CCLA`s only office is located in Plantation, Florida, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale. This position reports to CCLA`s Executive Director and effectively manages CCLA`s human resources and other projects as required. In addition, this individual will help guide the culture, recruitment, retention and professional development of the organization at all levels.
