Gw Law Careers

The International Symposium on Legal Careers is aimed at LL.M. students and recent LL.M. graduates interested in careers in international law, particularly careers of public interest with international organizations, governments and NGOs. The event was created to provide students with vital information about postgraduate legal options here in Washington, DC, and beyond. Each panel consists of a guided question-and-answer session on the applications with legal practitioners from that organization, with time set aside for questions from the audience at the end. The Washington Foreign Law Society (WFLS) networking event is an interactive session: WFLS practitioners share networking tips for international lawyers and network with participants in small groups. For more information, visit the International Legal Careers Symposium website. All sessions take place virtually via the Zoom platform. Melanie Orhant is a Senior Law Career Advisor for LLM students. GW Law`s career center hosts more than 100 events on campus each year. Please note that while LLM students can attend most Career Center events, the Career Center cannot control whether participating employers are interested in interviewing LLM students. In many cases, only a small proportion of employers in a particular program accept applications from LL.M. students under the program. The Career Center maintains an online job bank called CORE for GW Law students and alumni.

All LLM students receive login information for CORE shortly after the start of the fall semester. If you need help accessing CORE, please contact the LLM consultant. Through a process called reciprocity, some law schools allow students and graduates of other law schools to visit their career offices and/or subscribe to their job boards. Schools that grant reciprocity can only offer it at certain times of the year (usually between December and July). In addition, reciprocity may only be offered for a limited period of a few months or less, and other restrictions may be imposed. See GW Law`s Reciprocity Policy.
